Located just 35 minutes south of the Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa International Airport (ZIH), Playa Viva is both easily accessible and a world away. Spread out over almost 200 acres, Playa Viva is the ideal place for your yoga, mindfulness, corporate or really any type of retreat. Playa Viva was constructed and is maintained as an eco-friendly facility. Our property blends in with the surrounding Sierra Madre Mountains, coastal mangroves and Pacific Ocean.

Our Facilities

Playa Viva offers several locations for yoga/ meditation/ convenings including multiple ocean-front shalas, poolside stretch space, and Beachfront. Shalla One is our open-sided platform that can host groups both small and large (up to 60 mats with plenty of space). While our newest platform Shalla Two or the Tortuga Shalla as our staff have named it due to its palapa roof resembling a turtle shell, can also host up to 60 mats but is more cocooning with its curved palapa roof that hangs lower on the sides, hugging the space. We also have a smaller platform which we use as a gym space with natural weights but it can also double as another Shala for up to 10 people. All shalas benefit from front-row ocean views and the relaxing background music of waves crashing is complimentary.

Yoga props are all Manduka, top quality and in great shape including lifetime mats, blocks, straps and Mexican yoga blankets. Additional equipment includes 20 “back jacks” (portable backrests), a wireless headsets, and a sound system that you can easily connect to play your own music. There are 19 rooms in total which can all house multiple beds with plenty of space, perfect for groups. At the center of Playa Viva is the creation of “meaningful” community, which happens in the Common Area, host to the Communal Dining Room, Saline Pool, Lounge Areas, Boutique and Beach Palapas.
