Opportunity  description

UPDATE: due to illness we are now also looking for a teacher who would be able to start with immediate effect. Please mention when you apply what dates you are available from. Thank you!

Hello!

We are urgently seeking a dedicated and versatile yoga teacher to join our DRYFT team for a short-term residency from September through October 2024. This is a unique opportunity to teach yoga in a serene, eco-glamping retreat on a remote island paradise while also contributing to our social media presence.

About Us

DRYFT Darocotan Island is a magical glamping resort located on a remote island in El Nido, Palawan, Philippines. Designed in harmony with nature, our resort features stunning treehouse huts and luxurious tipis crafted from upcycled materials. Our purpose-built jungle yoga shala can accommodate up to 50 mats, providing the perfect space for transformative yoga experiences.

The Role

We are looking for a dynamic yoga teacher who can cover our scheduled classes during our quietest months of the year. The position involves leading morning and afternoon yoga sessions, typically featuring a more dynamic flow in the morning and a slower hatha/yin practice in the afternoon. Due to it being low season and us hosting external retreats, there will be plenty of time with no group classes, giving you time to focus on other tasks or explore the island.

In addition to teaching, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our social media presence. This includes taking videos, editing content, and posting regularly to showcase the beauty and unique offerings of DRYFT.

Key Responsibilities

– Lead morning and afternoon yoga classes for our guests, tailoring sessions to various levels, from novice to intermediate.

– Create engaging social media content, including video production, editing, and posting across platforms. Plan and implement strategies to grow followers and brand awareness.

– Be an active part of our island community, engaging with guests outside of classes and during meals.

– Assist in promoting additional workshops or private sessions as opportunities arise.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

– Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with 1+ years of regular teaching experience.

– Comfortable teaching all levels, especially beginners.

– Strong command of English (fluency in teaching in English).

– Friendly, approachable, and inclusive nature.

– Skilled in SM content creation (video recording, editing, social media posting).

– Previous experience in content creation or managing social media for a business or personal brand.

Desirable:

– Experience teaching in retreat settings.

– Ability to offer additional modalities (e.g., ecstatic dance, sound healing, meditation, breathwork, fitness, etc.).

– Previous experience in content creation or managing social media for a business or personal brand.

What We Offer

– Accommodation in a large, comfortable glamping bell tent with a queen-sized bed and electric fan. You may share the tent with one other person (same gender, separate beds).

– Three delicious daily meals made from fresh, local ingredients.

– Ample free time during non-teaching hours to relax or explore the island.

– Opportunity to earn extra income through private sessions or workshops.

– Experience living sustainably in a remote, eco-conscious environment.

Important to Note

DRYFT is located on a small, remote island that is a 15-minute boat ride and a 45-minute drive from the nearest town, El Nido. While the setting is idyllic, it may not suit everyone due to its isolation and the close-knit nature of our community.

If this opportunity excites you and you are available for the required dates, we’d love to hear from you!

How to Apply

Please include a cover letter with your application. You can apply through YogaTrade or email us at wellness@dryft.camp. In your application, include your availability, relevant experience, and any links to social media profiles or portfolios that showcase your teaching and content creation skills.

We look forward to hearing from you!
